Go! Aviation: Mika Salo Joins the Aviation Business

Professional racing driver and former Formula 1 star Mika Salo enters the Finnish aviation business. The business model of Go! Aviation offers a completely novel, tailor-made solution to travelling in Europe and the Nordic countries. The company will start operations in 2016.

HELSINKI--()--The travel concept, developed by Go! Aviation, answers the growing need for quick, cost-efficient business travel on routes the customer needs. The routes are tailored and flown to and from the closest possible airfield according to the customers’ specific needs. In addition, Go! Aviation provides interesting options for leisure travel.

”I was immediately excited about the business concept of Go! Aviation, and decided to take part in it because this is exactly the kind of service I’ve needed, and there’s a clear demand for it in Europe. I believe we will reach our goal of being Europe’s leading operator of Pilatus planes by 2020”, says Mika Salo.

Mika’s broad contact network helps us in our planned expansion to Central Europe. With Mika’s help we will also offer new packages that enable our customers to attend European Formula 1 races and other motor racing events”, says Go! Aviation CEO Jorma Kario.

The flights will be operated with single-engine planes seating 8 passengers, keeping the costs moderate. The operating costs of Pilatus PC-12 NG planes are roughly half of those for twin-engine planes. As Go! Aviation is operating from smaller less congested airports the business traveller can easily reclaim entire workdays on a single trip. Passengers also benefit from the reduction of other travel related expenses, such as accommodation and meals. Internationally operating companies outside the big cities also benefit from the added connectivity.

In 2016, Go! Aviation will introduce passenger transport using three Pilatus-turboprop aircraft with a capacity for 8 passengers. Until now, this type of aircraft has not been in wide commercial use in Europe, whereas in the USA, Canada and Australia the plane type is prevalent. Go! Aviation will thus have a significant competitive advantage on the European market.

Go! Aviation will present its Northern Europe route network in early 2016. The company is expanding to Central and Southern Europe in late 2016 and early 2017 and is now looking for investors from these areas.
