Jamba Juice Teams Up with the San Diego Market to Inspire Students to Stay Active and Healthy

Jamba “Teams Up For a Healthy America” with DonorsChoose.org to fund Local Schools’ Health and Projects

EMERYVILLE, Calif.--()--Continuing its longtime dedication to the local community, leading health and active lifestyle brand, Jamba Juice in the San Diego market announced today a campaign to help area students. Today, San Diego’s Jamba stores will donate 20 percent of sales to supply local schools with fitness and athletic equipment, and other tools to help area youth stay active and healthy through Jamba’s Team Up for a Healthy America™ initiative. The funding will also help with other educational projects to benefit local students.

Launched in 2011, Team Up for a Healthy America is one of Jamba's marquee corporate social responsibility programs, designed to improve childhood wellness by encouraging and inspiring kids to make better dietary choices and keep active.

To support this charitable initiative, Jamba Juice and Team Up for a Healthy America have partnered with DonorsChoose.org, a non-profit website that makes it easy for anyone to help public school students and teachers in need.

Today, Jamba Juice made an initial donation of over $69,000 to DonorsChoose.org to fund 126 projects in the San Diego market, reaching 76 schools and 8,000 students. Additionally, Jamba will donate 20 percent of sales in participating San Diego area stores to fund additional projects at local schools, allowing the community to play a key part in this important program.

Through DonorsChoose.org, public school teachers from every corner of America submit classroom project requests, and individuals and organizations can give directly to the ones that inspire them. The projects that DonorsChoose.org fund range from athletic gear, to science equipment, books, art supplies and anything that helps students receive an excellent education. Since 2011, Jamba and DonorsChoose.org have teamed up to provide athletic and play equipment to schools to keep kids active across America and have impacted more than 100,000 school children.

“As the school year commences around the country, the spirit of Jamba Juice’s commitment to healthy and active living is renewed through this unique flash funding program to support our local schools and help each student reach their full potential,” said Julie Washington, Jamba Juice’s Chief Brand Officer. “We’re pleased to be working with DonorsChoose.org and to partner with teachers and schools in the San Diego community to fund local classrooms in need.”

In addition to Jamba’s Team Up for a Healthy America program, Jamba offers two year-round opportunities for local schools and other nonprofits to fundraise the FUN way through their local Jamba store. First, Jamba offers fundraising cards with “buy-one, get-one free” offers that schools can sell and get 50% of the funds back, and second Jamba can sell smoothies at local events and donate up to 20% of the sales to local schools or charities.
