“Open source products have gained a reputation for being cumbersome to use and difficult to integrate within large enterprise IT environments,” said Michael Sklar, CEO of Graylog. “Since the release of Graylog version 1.0 we’ve been delivering capabilities that dispel these preconceptions. LDAP Group support and other enhancements in v1.2 provide further proof that we’re delivering enterprise-class log management and analysis on an open source platform.”

Better Access Control, Performance and Visualization

The rapidly growing adoption of the Graylog open source project is being fueled by the demand for a fast, scalable and affordable alternative to the data-usage pricing of commercial log management tools like Splunk. Thousands of organizations have already deployed Graylog to derive operational intelligence from both structured and unstructured data sources in order to automate time-consuming IT and DevOps processes, including Marketing Intelligence Company Wiland and Ochsner Health System.

The v1.2 release of Graylog incorporates the following new capabilities for easier integration with enterprise identity and access management systems and even faster data processing and analysis of very large data sets:

  • Up to 600 Percent Better Performance - new upgraded stream engine processes data up to six times faster than previous versions, which boosts message throughput and reduces Graylog server utilization.
  • Group Based Role and Access Management – with enhanced support for LDAP, enterprises can automatically map user roles defined in LDAP groups to control user access to Graylog and specific data sets.
  • Enhanced Visualization & Analysis – For faster and easier discovery of root causes of IT and DevOps problems, stacked charts are now supported in dashboards and aggregation/cardinality of text-based fields can be calculated on the fly.
