Tripwire Business Momentum Continues to Build in First Half of 2015

PORTLAND, Ore.--()--Tripwire, Inc., a leading global provider of advanced threat, security and compliance solutions, today announced double-digit growth in both its large, strategic and entry-level deals during the first six months of 2015. The company’s large, strategic deals have grown over 40 percent when compared with the second quarter of 2014. Tripwire also expanded its primary North America market by 25 percent in the first half of 2015, reporting record revenues and profits led by strong sales of Tripwire® IP360 TM, a vulnerability management solution, and the Tripwire NERC Solution Suite, a security and compliance solution designed to meet the unique compliance and cybersecurity requirements of energy organizations.

After leading the company through eleven years of profitable growth and a successful acquisition by Belden Inc., Jim Johnson will retire as president at the end of September 2015. Gus Malezis, currently vice president of worldwide sales and a 25-year technology veteran, will assume the role of president.

Malezis’ career has included roles at Merisel, 3Com and McAfee. In 2005, he joined nCircle as vice president of worldwide sales and retained that role at Tripwire following its acquisition of nCircle in 2013. Malezis’ ability to successfully lead organizations in ultra-competitive technology markets makes him a natural fit to lead Tripwire’s next phase of growth.

“It’s a great privilege to be asked to lead Tripwire as we continue our strong growth trajectory in the months and years ahead,” said Malezis, incoming president of Tripwire. “Jim Johnson has built an excellent team, and I look forward to building on the solid foundation the company has built as well as pushing the pace of innovation even further.”

Key product highlights in the first half of 2015 included:

  • Over 200 percent increase in NERC Solutions Suite sales.
  • Tripwire’s suite of vulnerability management solutions now detects over 100,000 conditions, including high profile vulnerabilities such as Heartbleed, Shellshock, Superfish, POODLE and Freak.
  • Comprehensive platform and policy support for Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) version 3.1 in both Tripwire® Enterprise and Tripwire IP360 including complete visibility into all levels of encryption.
  • A new version of Tripwire Security Intelligence Hub helps improve the effectiveness and reliability of vulnerability management programs by identifying remediation bottlenecks, managing SSL certificates more effectively, and simplifying remediation workflow planning.
  • Continued expansion of Technology Alliance Program partnership including integrations with Hitachi-ID, LogRhythm, Sigmaflow and Novatech.

Tripwire security and vulnerability management solutions protect critical servers and endpoints for more than 9,000 customers across 91 countries. More than half of Fortune 500 companies trust Tripwire with their security and compliance needs. Tripwire solutions protect many of the largest, most sensitive networks in the world, including nine of the top 10 utilities in the U.S., eight of the top 10 global retailers and seven of the top 10 global telecommunications firms. Tripwire protects over 10 million assets.

Tripwire is the largest “pure-play” competitor focused exclusively on the security configuration management and security and vulnerability management markets. The International Data Corporation’s (IDC) annual “Worldwide Security and Vulnerability Management 2014-2018 Forecast and 2013 Vendor Shares” report shows that Tripwire climbed to the second-largest vendor position in the policy and compliance category. With 10.3 percent market share in this category, Tripwire’s market presence now exceeds Symantec and is second only to IBM. Tripwire is also positioned as one of the top five vendors in the overall security and vulnerability management market — ahead of McAfee, NetIQ, Symantec, Qualys, Rapid7 and Tenable Network Security.

“Tripwire has had an exceptional first half this year,” said Jim Johnson, outgoing president of Tripwire. “Our profitability continues to grow at a record pace, and we anticipate strong revenue and profitability for the remainder of 2015. Our strong financial discipline enables us to continue to invest aggressively in technology that solves some of the most difficult cybersecurity challenges our customers face.”
