HERNDON, Va.--()--Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation, the charitable arm of Northwest Federal Credit Union, is addressing summertime shortages at local area food pantries. The Foundation’s second annual Summertime Food Drive is aimed at raising non-perishable items and monetary donations throughout the month of August.

“Hunger is a very real problem in Northern Virginia. Fairfax and Loudoun Counties have two of the highest median incomes in the country, and there are nearly 80,000 residents who struggle daily to feed their families,” said President/CEO of Northwest Federal and Chairman of the NWFCU Foundation Board of Directors, Chris McDonald. “Northwest Federal knows that basic needs must be met before financial dreams can be achieved, and we’re doing our part to aid our community.”

The Credit Union is accepting donations online and in branches. One hundred percent of proceeds will go to LINK, Inc, the largest food pantry supporting families in the Ashburn, Herndon, and Sterling areas of Northern Virginia.
