INDIALANTIC, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FracTEL, (www.fractel.net), the pioneering provider of next-generation, cloud-based telecommunications systems, today announced it has received Patent No. 8,971,509, “Feature-Based Software System for Programming of a Business PBX”, as granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The patent covers a core technology that is fundamental to the deployment of the next-generation Business PBX architecture that enables FracTEL’s advanced telephony services, including the development of business-transformative “Tele-Apps” through the rapid integration of the company’s telecommunications platform with other IT systems.
“We believe that the technology we have developed, and that is covered by this patent, represents the one and only way to deploy a true cloud-based Business PBX that can provide the scalability, security, reliability and savings required to cost effectively support the entire spectrum of businesses - up to and including enterprises having many thousands of phones,” said Michael Crown, FracTEL founder and President. “It was a very difficult problem to solve, but we believe we are years ahead of our competition. Now that we also have IP protection on this disruptive technology, FracTEL has clearly established technical leadership and sustainable differentiation in a very large and valuable market segment.”
Business PBX deployments have historically been based on premises based equipment or, more recently, “hosted” server solutions that rely on multi-tenant or virtual machine architecture. These solutions are effective, but lack the scalability, IT integration and other benefits of a true high-availability, distributed architecture. Because a Business PBX must support complex communications and interactions in real time, the Business PBX is a unique and challenging application to deploy in this fashion. The “Feature-Based” technology that FracTEL has developed and patented makes such a deployment possible. It is the underlying platform for FracTEL’s Cloud PBX service, and represents a generation beyond traditional VoIP.
“The important and exciting thing about this patent is that it protects an entire deployment framework rather than just a particular feature or functionality - and that framework represents a major breakthrough in the way Business PBX service is provided,” said John Scott, FracTEL Chairman.
FracTEL is the pioneering provider of next-generation “Integrated Communications” systems that are transforming businesses by offering an unprecedented full integration of telecommunications with other information technologies. Its patented, feature-based Cloud PBX architecture also delivers unmatched reliability, scalability, security and savings.
