ROCHESTER, N.Y.--()--A series of live music events—including tours by Dave Matthews Band, Phish and Barenaked Ladies—will pair Earth-conscious concertgoers with the premier reusable water bottle to encourage fans to take positive action for the planet.

To address the huge amount of disposable water bottle waste created at concerts, Nalgene Outdoor Products, maker of reusable water bottles and food storage containers, and REVERB, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that creates and executes ‘green’ programs at rock concerts to reduce environmental waste, have teamed up to provide reusable water bottles to music fans during the 2015 summer and fall live music season.

“Nalgene reusable bottles are a natural fit for a tour greening partner,” explains Adam Gardner, guitarist for Guster and co-director of REVERB. “They directly help us reduce the environmental footprint of concerts in a way that fans appreciate.”

Nalgene bottles are made in the USA, in a factory in Rochester, NY, and will be used by REVERB to enhance fan education platforms championed by REVERB’s artist partners on tours and at live music events across the country. Among them will be REVERB’s Eco-Villages, an area that promotes making sustainable and environmentally-conscious choices at every show. The Eco-Village also features water stations where fans can fill up reusable bottles with free filtered water. Nalgene bottles will be available to encourage fans to support the efforts of REVERB and local and national non-profit organizations and to help encourage concertgoers to “refill not landfill” by promoting the environmental and financial benefits of using reusable instead of disposable water bottles.

“We are thrilled for Nalgene bottles to go ‘on tour’ and benefit local organizations important to artists,” said Eric Hansen, director, Nalgene Outdoor Products. “It’s particularly exciting to partner with REVERB to provide easy ways that concert goers can ‘refill not landfill’ with accessible hydration stations on-site.”

“Dave Matthews Band has been working with REVERB for over ten years to green our tours and rally our fans around the environment,” said Stefan Lessard, the band’s bassist. “Thanks to Nalgene water bottles being integrated into the 2014 tour, our Farm-To-Family program has raised over $200,000 and counting, for local farmers and food banks across the country."

REVERB is working with national tours and live music events during the summer and fall of 2015. Below is a sampling of how the Nalgene-REVERB partnership will occur at concerts:

  • Dave Matthews Band Summer 2015 Tour – In every city the tour visits, custom Dave Matthews Band Nalgene bottles will be given to fans for a $10 donation to support REVERB’s Farm to Family program, an initiative that supports local farms and provides fresh food to community food banks. The proceeds will go to a local family farm who will in turn provide farm fresh items to a partner food bank in the community. 2015 marks year two of the program. In 2014, the Farm to Family program raised over $107,000 for family farms and community food banks with Nalgene’s support.
  • PHISH Magnaball Festival 2015 – REVERB and popular band PHISH’s Water Wheel Foundation will be raising funds for environmental and social causes through a Nalgene bottle activation at the three-day festival in Watkins Glen, NY in August.
  • Barenaked Ladies Last Summer on Earth 2015 – REVERB will provide Nalgene bottles and free filtered water to fans at every show during the Barenaked Ladies national tour this summer to support REVERB’s greening and fan engagement efforts on tour.
  • Gentleman Of The Road (GOTR) Stopovers (IA, CO, WA) - REVERB will provide free water to fans and raise awareness and funds with Nalgene bottles for local non-profits in each community the GOTR festival visits.
