MALVERN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Momentum Dynamics, the leader in fast, high-power wireless charging for electric vehicles announced today it is the grand prize winner of Securing America’s Future Energy’s (SAFE) 2015 Energy Security Prize, sponsored by The InterTech Group, which was announced live on CNBC’s ‘Power Lunch’ program, Friday, July 31.
Two panels of independent, expert judges and an online poll determined the final outcome among four semifinalists with technologies that can help improve America’s energy security by reducing our country’s dependence on oil.
“Ninety-two percent of America’s transportation sector is powered by oil, and this monopoly leaves our economy and national security dangerously exposed to an increasingly volatile and unpredictable global oil market,” said SAFE Founder, President and CEO Robbie Diamond. “Congratulations to Momentum Dynamics for the creation and advancement of their electric vehicle wireless charging technology and for winning this year’s Energy Security Prize. By accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and diversifying the fuels that power our cars and trucks, we can make our country more prosperous and secure.”
According to Andy Daga, CEO of Momentum Dynamics, “We are honored to be recognized for our achievements and accomplishments in developing a technology that will greatly benefit consumers across a multitude of vertical EV markets. We want to thank The InterTech Group for funding this prize in memory of the company’s founder, president and CEO, Jerry Zucker. We are also extremely grateful to the judges, to CNBC, to the entire team at SAFE, and to Clemson University.”
Daga said the company would use the proceeds to fund further development and expand pilot projects.
