Comprehensive Health Services Donates $600,000 to Harvard Medical School

Gift Supports Telemedicine Research Fund and Health Care Markets and Regulation Lab

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. & RESTON, Va.--()--Comprehensive Health Services, one of the nation’s largest and most experienced workforce medical services providers, made a $600,000 donation to the Harvard Medical School Department of Health Care Policy in support of its Telemedicine Research Fund and Health Care Markets and Regulation Lab. According to Harvard, the gift “will allow the department to better understand and analyze the current practice of telemedicine to inform its growth.”

The funding has also been earmarked to support research by the Department of Health Care Policy to tackle issues relating to the Affordable Care Act, including regulation of health care and health insurance, market structure and outcomes, workforce productivity, and evaluations of innovative programs and incentives.

“The Harvard Medical School faculty is uniquely equipped to tackle this complex issue, which is why our company chose to invest in this important research,” said Mel Hall, chairman of Comprehensive Health Services and member of the Harvard Medical School’s Health Care Policy Advisory Council. “It is critical that industry and academia work together to find solutions to affordable health care. Among those solutions, telemedicine is one great option we need to continue to explore because of the enormous promise that it holds.”

Hall was recently interviewed by Harvard Medical School’s newsletter, The Benefactor, about his company’s donation and its significance to the Department of Health Care Policy.
