Thomas Jefferson School of Law Partners with Italian University

Partnership evidence of law school’s global presence

SAN DIEGO--()--Thomas Jefferson School of Law signed a collaborative agreement with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy and the University’s Marco Biagi Foundation. This partnership paves the way for the development of common research projects, faculty and student exchange programs, and joint conferences and seminars.

“This partnership is evidence of our expanding global presence,” said Thomas Guernsey, president and dean of Thomas Jefferson School of Law. “This creates a platform for students and faculty to remain competitive in a profession that is becoming more globalized.”

The Marco Biagi Foundation was founded in 2002, to honor the work of the eminent labor law scholar Professor Marco Biagi. Biagi was assassinated by a militant Italian paramilitary organization that opposed his economic views.

Thomas Jefferson’s connection to the Foundation is through Professor Susan Bisom-Rapp, a member of the law school’s faculty since 1996. Professor Bisom-Rapp is an expert in international and comparative employment law, and has been involved with the Foundation since 2007.

“The signature of this agreement is particularly meaningful to us,” noted Professor Marina Orlandi Biagi, President of the Foundation. “Professor Bisom-Rapp is one of our most valuable international partners. I trust that the agreement will further enhance a sound personal relationship, paving the way for fruitful cooperation among the three institutions.”

“For many years, the Foundation has been my home-away-from-home. I look forward to increasing the interaction between the Foundation and my home institution, Thomas Jefferson School of Law,” said Professor Bisom-Rapp.
