Infomart Dallas Unveils Building Meet-Me Room, Offers Low-Cost Interconnection

DALLAS--()--Infomart Data Centers, a national wholesale data center provider, announced today the launch of a carrier-neutral Building Meet-Me Room (BMMR) inside its iconic Infomart Dallas data center, located at 1950 N. Stemmons Freeway in Dallas. Infomart will upend the traditional Meet-Me Room model by waiving monthly cross-connect fees in order to amplify interconnection within the carrier-hotel.

“Waiving the traditional cross-connect fee is a rare approach for a wholesale data center provider of Infomart’s size,” said Kelly Morgan, research director for North American Data Centers at 451 Research. “As the worlds of telecommunications and data centers continue to collide, data center operators are looking for unique ways to offer additional interconnection options to tenants. Managing the Building Meet-Me Room in one of the world’s most connected buildings as a low-cost amenity to customers is a disruptive approach by Infomart.”

Until now, the 1.6 million-square-foot facility has been one of the nation’s largest carrier-hotels without a common Meet-Me Room. Infomart Dallas currently houses 28 unique data center suites, including a newly commissioned 24,000-square-foot wholesale suite operated by Infomart.

The new BMMR is designed to facilitate interconnectivity within the carrier-neutral fiber hub, enabling connections between the more than 70 network carriers and all colocation customers within the building.

“The newly commissioned BMMR in Dallas is a critical part of Infomart’s larger strategy to emphasize connectivity in all of our data center locations, including Dallas, Silicon Valley, Portland and Ashburn,” said John Sheputis, president of Infomart Data Centers. “Customers want industry-leading connectivity options, at a low price. By creating this environment inside the region’s most connected building, companies can cost-effectively optimize their network.”

Several carriers have committed to build into Infomart’s BMMR, including global Internet exchange DE-CIX, which announced today it will enter the Dallas market with a presence in Infomart’s BMMR. Local dark fiber provider InnerCity FiberNet also has signed on to enable more connections through the BMMR. With the addition of these carriers and other tenants, Infomart anticipates fast growth of connectivity into its BMMR in the coming months.

“Early commitments with these premier service providers mean we can offer the highest level of connectivity to our customers from day one,” Sheputis added. “Connecting through Dallas’ BMMR provides customers the fastest path to international and domestic network, content, cloud and Internet service providers, making it one of the most connected, valuable and strategically positioned data center facilities in the country.”
