MedRisk Welcomes Matthew Walsworth, M.D., P.T. to Its International Scientific Advisory Board

Dr. Walsworth brings expertise in physical therapy, diagnostic imaging and electrodiagnostics to the prestigious panel that monitors guidelines for MedRisk’s workers’ compensation managed care solutions.

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.--()--Matthew Walsworth, M.D., P.T. has joined MedRisk’s International Scientific Advisory Board. ISAB is an elite panel of world-renowned specialists in physical medicine, diagnostic imaging and electrodiagnostics who oversee all clinical aspects of MedRisk’s programs, including its proprietary evidence-based guideline development and maintenance.

“Dr. Walsworth is the first ISAB member to have such deep expertise in both physical therapy and diagnostic services,” said ISAB Chair Phil McClure.

Dr. Walsworth is an interventional and diagnostic radiologist at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center and an assistant clinical professor in Health Sciences at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). A published author and presenter in a range of diagnostic and treatment areas, Dr. Walsworth’s recent work focused on ultrasonographic imaging of the shoulder.

“Matt is a board-certified radiologist with extensive experience who began his medical career as a physical therapist in the army,” said MedRisk CEO Shelley Boyce. “He is uniquely suited to advise MedRisk on the clinical aspects of both diagnostic imaging and physical medicine.”

He holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from U.S. Army-Baylor University and a Doctor of Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also conducted his residency in radiology. His fellowship in interventional radiology took place at UCLA. Dr. Walsworth holds numerous board certifications, including the American Board of Radiology Board Certification.
