Eos Energy Storage Hires VP of Manufacturing and VP of Sales in Support of Gigawatt-Level Demand for its Advanced Grid-Scale Batteries

NEW YORK--()--Eos Energy Storage today announced two additions to its senior management team: Vice President of Manufacturing Donald Humphreys and Vice President of Sales Jim Morgenson. The executive hirings come on the heels of Eos receiving more than 8,000 MWh of qualified pre-orders for the Aurora 1000|4000 containerized DC battery system, available in 2016, and the closing of $23M Series C equity financing.

“At a disruptive price of $160/kWh, demand for the Aurora product has surged since Eos launched its commercial offering, which employs our safe, low-cost, and long-lasting ZnythTM zinc hybrid cathode battery technology,” said Eos CEO Michael Oster. “To help us scale the business, we brought in two highly experienced individuals who are familiar with the energy storage industry and rapid sales growth.”

Don Humphreys will oversee scale-up of manufacturing to meet growing GWh demand for the Aurora product. With deployments already underway at Con Edison of New York and GDF SUEZ, Eos is ramping up to deliver MW-scale battery systems in projects with other major utilities, including Pacific Gas & Electric. Don joins Eos with over 35 years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale battery manufacturing facilities on four continents, beginning at Duracell and most recently at Aquion Energy.

Jim Morgenson will lead worldwide direct sales efforts and expand Eos’s Aegis program, which involves formal partnerships with major system integrators who sell, install, and service turnkey AC energy storage solutions using the Aurora DC battery. Jim joins Eos from SMA Solar Technology and Rockwell Automation, where he developed and scaled global sales strategies for emerging technologies in utility, commercial and industrial markets.

“Eos’s technology is a real game-changer,” added Morgenson. “By working with utilities, Eos has designed a battery that will enable a drastically more efficient grid system—with enhanced reliability and lower cost. Now with a growing manufacturing capability, we’re excited to scale and deploy the Aurora product in volume to fulfill global GWh demand.”
