Exclusive Harper Lee Collection Available at Books-A-Million and at Celebration Events

“The Collection” features a first edition of “Go Set a Watchman” paired with “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and includes exclusive one-of-a-kind collectors items

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--Anticipating the release of “Go Set a Watchman” from Harper Lee, Books-A-Million has put together an exclusive offer called “The Collection,” that pairs a first edition of the new novel with Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winning, “To Kill a Mockingbird.” In addition to the novels, the package will contain exclusive Harper Lee themed bookmarks and bookplates. “The Collection” is only available for a limited time and customers can purchase it for $45.00 exclusively at Books-A-Million stores, online at www.booksamillion.com, and at “The Next Chapter” celebration events that are being hosted by AL.com and Books-A-Million.

Within this exclusive collection, customers will receive custom themed bookmarks and signature bookplates for both “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Go Set a Watchman.” Valued at $65.00, the exclusive Harper Lee items will come in a collector’s edition book holder that is perfect for collectors and gift givers alike. These special features are not available for individual purchase later and are being made solely for this once in a lifetime literary event.

Also included is an exclusive guide to the roots of Alabama literature, Lee’s home state. Lee currently resides and is a native of Monroeville, Ala., where the inspiration for the events in “To Kill a Mockingbird” are thought to have taken place.

“The release of ‘Go Set a Watchman’ is an incredible event for the literary world and ‘The Collection’ is a must have for all fans of Harper Lee,” said Scott Kapler, Vice President of Marketing at Books-A-Million. “Lee’s new novel is the summer blockbuster of book releases and there isn’t a better way to be a part of it than through this exclusive offer.”

Books-A-Million will be hosting midnight openings on July 14 in select stores where “The Collection” will be available for purchase. From 12 a.m. to 1 a.m., customers can also receive a free 16-ounce Joe Muggs beverage of choice.

In addition to “The Collection” being available to purchase at Books-A-Million in stores and online, the exclusive collectors items can be purchased at “The Next Chapter” celebration events. “The Next Chapter” events, which are being presented by AL.com and Books-A-Million, will be taking place in three cities over three days in Alabama, Lee’s home state. These events will bring storytellers, community leaders and nationally acclaimed authors together for live readings and entertaining reflections on the themes in Harper Lee’s books and what those themes mean for the next generation of Alabamians. The events will take place on July 14 in Birmingham, July 15 in Huntsville, and July 16 in Mobile and are free to the public.

“Go Set a Watchman” follows the story of Scout Finch, one of the featured characters in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” In the recently discovered novel, Scout has returned to visit her father in Lee’s Maycomb, Alabama, 20 years after the events that took place in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Now an adult woman, Scout’s recollections of her childhood constituted the foundation for “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
