Tenable Network Security Awarded $1.1 Million to Support Hundreds of New Cybersecurity Jobs in Maryland

Market leader for continuous network monitoring software represents Maryland’s new class of high-growth tech companies

COLUMBIA, Md.--()--Tenable Network Security®, Inc., the leader in continuous network monitoring, has received a combined $1.1 million in conditional loans and grants from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) and Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) to create hundreds of full-time jobs at its Columbia, Md., headquarters over the next five years.

Tenable represents a new breed of tech company driving explosive growth and opportunity in the Baltimore-Washington region. Credited with some of the most influential cybersecurity advances in the last decade, Tenable defends against threats that are at the center of today’s board-level and public policy discussions.

“Tenable’s expansion is great news for Maryland’s economy and the cybersecurity community,” said Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. “I’m excited to know this company will continue to grow and thrive in our state with the addition of hundreds of jobs over the next five years. Today’s news is proof that Maryland is indeed open for business.”

“Tenable is proud to call Maryland home; the Baltimore/DC area is an ideal location to hire the talented people we need to grow and remain competitive,” said Ron Gula, CEO, Tenable Network Security. “As Tenable enters its next phase of growth, our commitment to our customers and local communities remains strong. We will continue to invest in Maryland, even as we further expand Tenable’s presence internationally.”

To support Tenable’s vision for accelerated growth, DBED is providing a $1 million conditional loan through the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund (MEDAAF). HCEDA is providing Tenable with a $100,000 reimbursable workforce training grant. Together these investments support an influx of hundreds of new jobs for Maryland’s burgeoning economy by 2020.

“Tenable is another example of the rapidly-growing technology companies with innovative products, visionary leaders, and an entrepreneurial culture that are born and bred here in Maryland,” said DBED Secretary Mike Gill. “The addition of hundreds of new jobs at Tenable’s headquarters in Columbia illustrates the business-friendly environment we’re building in our state. I join Governor Hogan in celebrating the company’s success.”
