City & County of Denver Successfully Pilots Dominion’s Democracy Suite® System, Bringing Convenience and Cost-Savings to Denver Voters

DENVER--()--Dominion Voting is pleased to announce that the City and County of Denver has completed their 2015 Municipal Election cycle using Dominion’s Democracy Suite® voting system with resounding success.

The entire election was driven by Dominion’s fully integrated Democracy Suite® software platform, including the first deployment of Dominion’s newest voting terminal, the ImageCast® X. The system, which leverages commercially available off-the-shelf hardware, delivered greater convenience, transparency, and accessibility to Denver voters – as well as sustainability and efficiency for Denver Elections – ultimately leading to significant cost-savings.

Amber McReynolds, Director of Elections for the City and County of Denver, said “Our partnership with Dominion Voting has allowed us to provide an enhanced and accessible experience for our voters. Of the voters who chose to vote in person at our Voter Service and Polling Centers, the majority used the tablet to mark their ballots due to familiarity with the interface. The accessibility features of the system also offered enhanced functionality for voters with disabilities. The new system also helps us meet our organizational goal of being the most innovative elections office in the country while being lean, efficient, transparent, and secure.”

A total of over 130,000 ballots – from all voting channels– were tabulated on ImageCast® Central, with staff processing an average of 4,000 ballots per hour. Denver Elections attained a 70% cost-savings in the counting room as compared to the 2011 Municipal Election.

National observers were enthusiastic. On May 4th and 5th, Dominion and Denver Elections hosted over 150 individuals, representing 55 organizations and jurisdictions from across the country, to observe the election, learn about the latest innovations to improve election administration, and, most importantly, the voter's experience.

John Poulos, Dominion’s CEO, said “Dominion is honored to have partnered with Denver in spearheading ground-breaking and creative ways to leverage modern technologies for better elections. Our joint efforts have led to these latest innovations, which are designed to meet the current and future needs of jurisdictions across the United States. This collaborative approach to innovation is what defines us as a company – we are more than an elections technology vendor, we are a partner.”
