SCRA Recognizes Tim Reed with Knowledge Economist Emeritus Award

Presents Award for Distinguished Leadership and Service on SC Launch Board

SUMMERVILLE, S.C.--()--SCRA presented a Knowledge Economist Emeritus Award during its recent Board of Trustees retreat in Columbia, S.C. Greenville-area businessman Tim Reed was presented an award for his service and dedication during his term as a board member for the SC Launch program. Reed served on the SC Launch board from 2006 to 2015.

The SCRA Knowledge Economist Award is presented to leaders whose efforts have supported and strengthened the technology-based economy of South Carolina. An Emeritus Award was established for previously recognized Knowledge Economist Awardees as a special recognition for those individuals who have devoted a large part of their lives to giving to the community through public good.

This award, presented only a few other times in SCRA history, recognizes Reed’s longstanding efforts to enable economic development and investment in South Carolina companies. After many years in the frozen food industry and various trade association boards, Reed has served on numerous boards in South Carolina including The Greenville Chamber of Commerce, where he has been active in their ACCELERATE! and NEXT programs. He has served on boards for the United Way of Greenville County, Phillis Wheatley, The American Red Cross, the Clemson Board of Visitors, Clemson Real Estate Foundation, Clemson Foundation, Greenville Tech Foundation, Hollingsworth Funds Inc. and Metropolitan Arts Council. Reed was also a co-founder of the Upstate Carolina Angel Network (UCAN) and served on their board for many years.

“Tim has demonstrated a commitment and vision for the growth of South Carolina’s high-tech economy, and the quality of life and well-being of those in his community,” said SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney. “His consistent and generous leadership has helped not only in the formation and progress of numerous emerging innovative companies, but in organizations and programs like SC Launch and UCAN. We are delighted to recognize Tim’s willingness to serve and lead our state in so many ways. We look forward to the many contributions he will continue to offer South Carolina. ”
