M2M Cellular Module Vendors Compete on Volume as Sierra Wireless Still Leads the Pack in Revenues, Says ABI Research

OYSTER BAY, N.Y.--()--In the latest analysis from ABI Research, Sierra Wireless has maintained the top revenue position for M2M cellular modules for the fourth straight year. In addition, Sierra Wireless has also maintained the highest average revenue per module. The market data package provides both revenue and shipment estimates by vendor for 2014 as well as market share history back to 2003.

However, shipment market share among the top vendors has changed dramatically from 2013. SIMCom Wireless has leaped to the number two position in global shipments in 2014, only slightly behind Sierra Wireless.

Commenting on the data, Practice Director Dan Shey says, “While 2G modules remain the highest in total volumes, it is the market experiencing the most pricing pressure. All module vendors understand that they need a portfolio that includes not only 3G but also a suite of 4G modules if they expect to maintain margins and stay profitable.”

These data and other insights can be found in ABI Research’s, M2M Cellular Module Vendor Market Share analysis, which is part of the firm’s M2M and IoT Modules and Devices Market Research (https://www.abiresearch.com/market-research/service/m2m-modules/). Named vendors in the analysis are Gemalto, Huawei, Sierra Wireless, SIMCom Wireless Solutions, Novatel Wireless, Telit Wireless Solutions, and u-blox.
