WILLIAMSTON, Mich.--()--As demand for SorbaView SHIELD® Securement System increases, with more than 9.7 million sold in the past 12 months in hospitals and healthcare facilities across the U.S., Centurion Medical Products is creating opportunities with industry health leaders like Cardinal Health, a Fortune 22 service company, to distribute SorbaView SHIELD in its IV Start and Dressing Change Kits.

“We are excited about our agreement with Cardinal Health,” said Tom Archipley, CEO of Centurion Medical Products. “We chose Cardinal Health as a partner for our expansion strategy due to their market reach, strong customer relationships and kitting capabilities. Our partnership will give more hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and physician offices access to our patented SorbaView SHIELD by making it available in Cardinal Health™ kits.”

When healthcare customers order select Cardinal Health™ kits, the SorbaView SHIELD one-step catheter securement system can be part of its high quality contents. The collaboration between the two companies will help benefit U.S. customers by simplifying product purchasing, creating efficiencies and increasing patient satisfaction, as follows:

  • The SorbaView SHIELD one-step dressing and catheter securement system eliminates the need for secondary securement devices and additional taping
  • SorbaView SHIELD’s durability means the dressing stays on longer, allowing for at least a four-day dwell or replacement as clinically indicated for peripherals and up to seven days on the SorbaView SHIELD’s Central Venous Catheter dressings

Registered nurses P. Flippo and J. Lee conducted a clinical study with 85 nurses and 109 medical-surgical patients with PIVs, which determined that “The SHIELD product lasted out to 96 hours or until the PIV was discontinued in 91% of patients followed...The SHIELD is less expensive than other securement devices on the market and 86% of nurses are satisfied with its performance...There was also an average annual cost savings of $120,000 over the two-piece device and improved compliance by nursing.” Read the full report.
