EJGH Pioneers New Technology to Ensure Quality and Outcomes

METAIRIE, La.--()--Today, East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) is pleased to announce its partnership with medCPU, a sophisticated decision support software system designed to assist clinicians in delivering the most accurate and appropriate care possible. This system can alert the clinician when the treatment runs counter to hospital guidelines and protocols.

EJGH is excited to be the first healthcare facility in Louisiana to bring this exclusive cutting-edge technology to the community. medCPU is another tool EJGH can utilize to provide quality service, care, and comfort to the residents we serve.

“The system cross references a patient's history, physical findings, and laboratory and radiological data at the same time his or her doctor is assessing and prescribing a course of treatment. The centerpiece of medCPU’s technology is the ability to read medical data (including free text notes or dictations) and cross-reference that within our medical database instantaneously. Once it identifies a departure from hospital guidelines and protocols, an alert message pops up on the computer screen at the point-of-care informing the clinical staff of such departure and highlighting the hospital’s expected approach in this case. medCPU provides a wider scope of opportunities,” says Dr. Sidney Raymond, MD and Chief Medical Information Officer at East Jefferson General Hospital.

EJGH President and CEO, Dr. Mark J. Peters says this further enhances the hospital’s mission, “We are here to provide the highest level of comfort and care. This technology places us at the forefront of care but most importantly, ensures our physicians always confirm that their treatment plan produces results with a higher degree of precision.” Peters went on to assert, “Our patients deserve nothing less than this level of certainty. I believe this, and systems like it, will become the norm in medicine.”

medCPU technology is already being utilized for the prevention of deep venous thromboembolism, stroke and most recently sepsis.
