LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Friends of EXPO Center (“The Friends”), announced today the honoree of the prestigious 2015 “Community Champion Award,” to be presented at the highly anticipated 6th Annual “Salute to Community Champions” event on May 27. This year’s event will honor Mayor Eric Garcetti’s wife, Amy Elaine Wakeland, well recognized for her innovation and community leadership in Los Angeles. The event will feature a presentation of the award by the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Friends of EXPO Center, businessman and Los Angeles civic leader, Steve Soboroff.
Backed by extraordinary support from local, regional, national and international corporations and public-sector organizations, the event serves as a primary fundraiser for The Friends’ strategic support of innovative recreational and multi-faceted educational programs for at-risk youth and families at EXPO Center (EXPO), a vital community resource in south Los Angeles.
