SEATTLE--()--Redfin (www.redfin.com), the next-generation real estate brokerage, today announced the appointment of Bridget Frey to the role of chief technology officer. Frey most recently served as senior vice president of engineering at Redfin and has been with the company since 2011. As chief technology officer, Frey will lead the entire engineering organization in Seattle and San Francisco, reporting to Redfin chief executive officer Glenn Kelman.

“Bridget is one of Redfin’s deepest thinkers,” said Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman. “She digs into the code, analyzes the logs, quietly delivers breathtaking strategic insights, re-imagines our systems architecture, wonders how to automate everything, figures out the simplest way to get anything done, and makes everyone around her better. She’s a pragmatist, a strategist, an optimist and, above all, a believer in Redfin’s mission to make real estate better for regular folks.”

Frey joined Redfin as the director of analytics engineering, and has been promoted twice while at the company, holding the titles of vice president of Seattle engineering and senior vice president of engineering. Under Frey’s leadership, Redfin has developed many tools that have transformed the home-buying and selling processes and set the standard for the industry. A few examples include Redfin Shared Search, which helps people shopping for a home together share and comment on their favorite homes; Redfin Hot Homes, which identifies homes that are likely to sell in two weeks or less; and Redfin Home Dashboard, a comprehensive online resource for home sellers. Frey’s team has also brought Redfin technology to new markets as the brokerage has expanded; Redfin agents now serve 65 metropolitan areas in the U.S.

“Redfin has already used technology to change the nature of real estate, but it feels like we’re just getting started,” Frey said. “I’m thrilled to be working with our amazing engineers and real estate agents to simplify the process and empower our customers."

Frey brings more than 20 years of experience in computer science and engineering to the role. Prior to joining Redfin, Frey was the director of analytics and business applications at Lithium Technologies, where she was responsible for applications and tools used to manage, moderate, measure, explore and grow online communities using Lithium’s flagship Social Customer Relationship Management product. Before that, Frey was the vice president of development at IntrinsiQ Research, a chemotherapy software company, where she managed development, quality assurance, technical support and product management. In addition, she has held management positions at two startups: IMlogic and Plumtree Software.

Frey holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Harvard University, where she graduated magna cum laude.

In addition to her work at Redfin, Frey is an adviser for Usermind!, a Seattle-based enterprise software startup. She is also an advocate for women in technology, and speaks and attends related industry events. She frequently participates in the Redfin Women in Technology group, which discusses diversity issues and ways women can work together and support one another.
