Insteon Drives IoT Innovation With Microsoft at Microsoft’s Build Developer Conference

AllJoyn Network Wires the Connected Home with More Than 200 Devices; Insteon Integrates with Windows 10

Microsoft Build 2015

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Insteon®, creators of the world’s premier home automation and control technology, today announced the AllJoyn-enabled Insteon Hub, which brings more than 200 Insteon devices to the AllJoyn ecosystem. This announcement was revealed on stage by Joe Dada, CEO of Insteon at the Microsoft Build developer conference.

Insteon is also working together with Microsoft Corp. to highlight the many possibilities for the connected home when developers integrate their applications with Insteon and Windows 10. Additionally, Insteon is developing a universal app for Windows 10, which will allow Insteon to run seamlessly on any Windows 10 device across computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, wearables and more.

“The Insteon and Microsoft relationship enables the reality of a connected lifestyle where everything works together in perfect harmony,” said Dada. “As home automation continues to grow and garner mainstream adoption, individuals will expect connected-home capabilities across their computers, tablets, smartphones and wearable devices. Insteon will continue to integrate all of these platforms to enable seamless home control from any Windows 10 device.”

“Microsoft is pleased to work with Insteon to further bring the Internet of Things to life,” said Steven Guggenheimer, corporate vice president and chief evangelist at Microsoft. “Insteon offers a great example of the kind of innovative and creative solutions that Microsoft’s platforms and technologies can empower through experiences that are more personal and productive.”

AllJoyn-Enabled Insteon Hub

Since joining the AllSeen Alliance last year, Insteon has continued to advance connectivity of its devices on the AllJoyn platform. Today, Insteon is opening up its entire product line to the AllSeen Alliance through the AllJoyn-enabled Insteon Hub. The AllJoyn-enabled Insteon Hub makes it easy for developers to integrate their own applications with the Windows 10 SDK and communicate with the entire Insteon product line. In addition to an onsite demonstration at the Build developer conference, Insteon will host its Introspection XML on the AllSeen Alliance portal, enabling any developer to interact with the Insteon Hub through AllJoyn. As part of this demonstration, Insteon is also showcasing a universal application running on Windows 10.
