The study is based on data which were collected by analysing the websites of ten selected European department stores: Karstadt, Breuninger and Kaufhof from Germany, Jelmoli Manor from Switzerland, Liberty London, House of Frazer, Selfridges from Great Britain, El Corte Inglés from Spain and Arnotts from Ireland.

The ten eShops were analysed in terms of orientation, range of products, conditions and service. Every article is counted only once regardless its availability in different sizes and colours. For price comparisons, products were randomly selected. For easier comparison, strengths and weaknesses of each shop are summarized. Additionally, a scoring system considering most of the analysed criteria provides an overall ranking of the ten shops.
