TapLink Selected for Cloud Innovation Award

Password Database Security Start-Up one of Three Finalists for Clouded Leopards Den 2015 Early-Stage Innovators Competition

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--TapLink, the company that’s restoring trust in passwords, today announced that it has been named a finalist for the Clouded Leopards Den 2015 Award, which recognizes top innovative technology startups. Finalists were selected by a panel of venture capitalists, technology innovators and industry luminaries, including event chairman Dr. Bob Metcalfe, inventor of Ethernet.

“The finalists for the Clouded Leopards Den are inventing new technologies, products and services. These companies are leveraging communications technologies to make a positive change,” said Dr. Metcalfe of the University of Texas at Austin. “I offer TapLink my congratulations and wish them good luck in the next phase of the competition.”

TapLink recently emerged from stealth mode and introduced a new technology, called Blind Hashing, which prevents offline password attacks by making databases impossible to steal. TapLink’s technology is completely invisible to the end-user, easy to integrate, has minimal impact on back-end systems, and works in conjunction with existing password defenses, systems and processes. The company will introduce its patented cloud-based password protection product at RSA Conference 2015 booth S639.

“Being named a finalist for the Clouded Leopards Den award validates the scope of the password database security problem we are addressing and our unique, cloud-based solution,” said Jeremy Spilman, CTO and Founder of TapLink. “TapLink Blind Hashing enables organizations to eliminate password database theft once and for all.”

The final stage in the Clouded Leopards Den competition will take place at the NetEvents Global Cloud Innovation Summit at the Corinthian Yacht Club, Tiburon, San Francisco on April 23. The finalists will present “Shark Tank” elevator pitches to a panel of judges that includes Jim Lussier, Managing Director and Head of Dell Ventures; Janice Roberts, Partner in Benhamou Global Ventures; Dan Scheinman, an angel investor in high-growth emerging tech companies; and Murli Thirumale, Co-Founder and CTO of Portworx Inc.

“We see enormous market opportunity in the cloud. The finalists for the Clouded Leopards Den 2015 demonstrate creativity, talent, vision and potential for tremendous growth,” said Jim Lussier of Dell Ventures. “Early-stage and larger-stage startups like TapLink are to be commended for their hard work and success. As entrepreneurs, they are the future.”

The Clouded Leopards Den 2015 prize is sponsored by OpenCloud Connect (OCC), a global industry alliance founded in May 2013 to address the need for scaling and enhancing Ethernet technology to meet the stringent demands of delivering cloud services.

Previously known as the Cloud Ethernet Forum, the OCC is creating an open test and iterative standards development program for service providers, industry vendors and over-the-top cloud service providers and includes a dedicated proof of concept test laboratory based in Silicon Valley, to provide ongoing testing and support for the iterative development of OCC’s CloudE 1.0 open cloud framework.
