Ayla Networks to Provide IoT Technologies to Kidde’s New Smart Home Device

Kidde® RemoteLync™ device offers peace of mind to homeowners when away — no extra fees or products needed

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Ayla Networks (www.aylanetworks.com), a leading provider of Agile Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, will provide cloud services and other IoT technologies for the new Kidde RemoteLync remote notification device from Kidde Fire Safety that alerts homeowners when smoke or carbon monoxide (CO) alarms sound in their house, no matter where they are.

Ideal for a primary residence, vacation home or rental property, the Kidde RemoteLync device plugs into an outlet, listens for a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm, and uses a home’s existing wireless connection to remotely alert homeowners on iOS and Android compatible phones and tablets. When an alarm triggers the device, RemoteLync also communicates via a free app to notify neighbors or family or even call 911 directly.

“Internet of Things technology will change the way we think about home safety. For the first time, consumers will be able to know what’s happening in their home at any time they want,” said David Friedman, CEO of Ayla Devices. “Kidde has developed an innovative way to give homeowners greater peace of mind as well as let them act quickly in an emergency.”

Ayla offers a comprehensive suite of services and technology that effectively provide companies everything they need to design and manage Internet-enabled products over their lifetime, including embedded software, data and customer use analysis, continuous connectivity through Ayla’s cloud, security, product monitoring and technical support. By leveraging Ayla’s capabilities, manufacturers can substantially reduce product development costs, increase security and lay the foundation for an ongoing relationship with their customers. Ayla also helps product designers and manufacturers analyze anonymous field data to upgrade product designs or improve customer satisfaction.

Key benefits of RemoteLync include:

  • Connectivity – listens to existing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms 24/7 and notifies the homeowner via a mobile app, using the existing wireless connection
  • Inclusive Monitoring – designed to work with UL®-approved smoke and carbon monoxide alarms manufactured after 1999
  • Full Home Coverage – covers the average-sized U.S. home with just one RemoteLync device
  • Device Compatibility works with iOS and Android smartphones and tablets
  • Easy to Install – plugs into a single wall outlet with voice prompts and a user-friendly interface for easy setup
  • No Extra Costs or Subscriptions — no need to purchase additional products and no monthly fees; the app is free

“Kidde is a leader in using innovation to address real issues regarding fire safety. A home fire starts every 70 seconds in the U.S, and the RemoteLync device can provide homeowners a simple way to stay connected with their homes while they are away,” said Chris Rovenstine, vice president of sales and marketing, Kidde. Kidde is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. “We’re excited to be working with Ayla on this project.”

The RemoteLync device is available for pre-orders at HomeDepot.com and will be in retail stores in May; the device will cost less than $100.
