More Indiana Healthcare Providers Add CarePayment® Affordable Patient Financing

PORTLAND, Ore.--()--Pulaski Memorial Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital, and physician practice Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology are introducing the CarePayment financing program so patients can pay their medical bills over time. CarePayment features 0.00% APR for the life of the account. No interest charges accrue to add to what patients owe and there are no hidden fees or impact on consumer credit scores.

With high deductibles, co-pays and other out-of-pocket costs adding to the financial burden many people face, Pulaski Memorial and Fort Wayne Medical are joining more than a dozen other medical facilities across Indiana that have teamed up with CarePayment to remove financial barriers to care.

More than half of all Americans are having difficulty making ends meet, according to a new survey by the Center for Financial Services Innovation. Not only are 57 percent of American adults struggling financially, 36 percent of all households say they frequently or occasionally run out of money before the end of the month and 28 percent have less than $1,000 in liquid savings.

Now with nine locations, Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology was the first cancer treatment center in Northeast Indiana and the first and still the only cancer care group in the area to offer access to clinical trials. “Research and breakthroughs aside, the reality is there can be a lot of expense associated with cancer treatment,” says Dan Konow, Chief Executive Officer, Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology. “The CarePayment program is a tremendous benefit for our community and completely in line with how we do business, putting the needs of our patients first. We care for the whole person, and that includes providing for emotional and financial health, too.”

Named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital, Pulaski Memorial is the only hospital in Pulaski County and the only hospital with OB services in Pulaski and Starke Counties. “We have a culture that adapts quickly to the needs of our patients. This affordable payment program will make sure that our patients get the care they need. We don’t want patients to put off or avoid getting healthcare because of budget issues,” said Melanie Stoll, Self-Pay Representative, Pulaski Memorial.

The CarePayment program is not a credit card or loan; it’s a flexible open-end line of credit that allows patients to add additional medical services, always at 0.00% APR. Patients can manage their accounts in a variety of ways, including automatic payments, mobile and online account access, and paper or electronic statements.

“Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology and Pulaski Memorial provide vital medical services to the people of Indiana. CarePayment’s patient financing gives them an innovative new way to make care affordable for their patients. We are delighted to support their mission of improving the health and quality of life for the people and communities they serve,” says Craig Hodges, CEO of CarePayment.
