HIMSS15

FORT WAYNE, Ind.--()--Extension Healthcare, a leader in alarm safety and event response solutions, announced that it has released version 5.0 of its Extension Engage™ platform. Extension Engage v5.0 provides an extensive set of enhancements representing the most significant product update in Extension Healthcare’s history. These changes address areas of performance, scalability, and integration capabilities that further enable the company’s strong growth in multi-facility and enterprise-scale deployments.

Numerous hospitals including forty-four HCA (Healthcare Corporation of America) facilities, forty-one Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, and many other enterprise-scale systems have selected Engage to help solve clinical alarm safety issues as well as improve care team communication and care coordination. With its newest release, Engage is well positioned to address the alarm safety needs of an entire hospital or health system including the largest healthcare Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN’s). Enhanced solution delivery enables Extension to meet the specialized workflow needs of every department in the hospital enterprise and improved deployment flexibility reduces disruption for operational services including security releases.

The new fifth generation Engage platform supports new or enhanced integrations to leading systems including:

  • Patient Monitoring Alarm Integration
    • A direct connection to the GE CARESCAPE patient monitoring system reduces complexity and total cost of ownership when integrating with GE monitors.
    • Added support for Spacelabs and Sotera Wireless patient monitoring systems corroborates that Engage, a 510k-cleared solution for secondary clinical alarm notification, supports greater than 95% of the multi-parameter patient monitoring market.
  • Nurse Call Staff Assignment Integration
    • Engage now offers enhanced flexibility in managing staff assignments via support for synchronization of staff assignments with Hill-Rom Navicare and Rauland-Borg Responder nurse call systems.
  • Extension Data Export
    • New data exporting capabilities provides the ability to store event response data in an external SQL database. Hospitals can use standard reporting and business intelligence tools to create valuable data metrics and analyze alarm and event response workflows.
  • Engage Edge Enterprise Communications Outside the Hospital
    • Provides a more secure method for Engage Mobile users’ text or voice conversations to traverse a firewall via standards-based XMPP proxy server.

Engage’s unique approach unifies alarm management and secure messaging by bringing together a single advanced platform and patient-centric mobile app. “With this new v.5 platform release, Engage is ready to scale to meet the needs of our largest customers. No other vendor offers a single, integrated platform with IDN and enterprise-scalability like Extension Engage”, said Brian McAlpine, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing for Extension Healthcare.
