Velocity’s Entrepreneurs Showcase Accelerator Program graduate The Bot7 Company debuts Votdo™ 2.0

"Vote-by-Donation" platform set to change the way Non-profits raise money online

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--()--With the recent successful launch of Votdo™ 2.0 a cloud based Vote-by-Donation platform, the Bot7 Company is set to change the way nonprofits raise money online.

“Our goal is to show every nonprofit how a well-crafted vote by donation contest can spread their organization’s reach beyond geographic boundaries, grow their volunteer and donor lists, and put critical funds directly into their bank account while utilizing very few resources,” Co-Founder Doug Kor explains.

Kor was a frequent attendee at Velocity Venture Capital’s Bag Lunch and Big Ideas, a monthly gathering for those engaged in the entrepreneurial community, held at Velocity’s Entrepreneurs Campus in Folsom, CA. “The more we learned about Votdo™ the more we wanted to give it a try. So, we agreed to do a 'beta test.' Velocity ran a fundraiser that was very successful and so we invited Bot7 to join the Accelerator Program,” said Jack Crawford Jr., General Partner at Velocity Venture Capital.

As a result of Velocity’s Accelerator program, Bot7 received valuable feedback on its initial version of Votdo™ and then was introduced to an advisor and product development expert who was able to help Bot7 take the initial concept product to the next level. This month saw the launch of Votdo 2.0 a completely rebuilt version that is both more intuitive and is highly compatible with smart phones and tablets as well as traditional computers.

To use Votdo™ a non-profit selects a theme specific to their cause for example, “Pets Saving Pets” in support of a no kill animal shelter. Next they ask their supporters and the public at large to upload photos creating a “Wall of Asks” on the Votdo™ web site. The participants go out and solicit votes in the form of donations.

“It’s sort of a twist on the 10K Walk/Run model. The truth is a lot of us don’t run. I like to think of Votdo as the 10K for the rest of us,” said Co-Founder Doug Kor.

“We just finished a contest for Social Venture Partners (SVP) in support of twelve local education based nonprofits. Usually in these types of online contests it’s pretty much a winner take all and the hard work done by the other nonprofits gets lost. By using Votdo™, SVP was able to track the votes/donations as they come in and distribute the money to the nonprofits that earned them,” said Kor.
