EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--KARL STORZ Endoscopy-America, Inc., a leader in endoscopy and operating room integration solutions, is pleased to announce that its C-MAC® S USB Video Laryngoscope System was selected as one of EMS World magazine’s Top 20 Innovations for 2014. Products that receive the award are described by the publication as leading examples of how technology, engineering and creativity have been applied in the emergency medical service (EMS) industry. The Top 20 Innovation Award winners for this year were profiled in the February 2015 issue of EMS World.
The C-MAC S USB Imager, with its sensor-driven USB connection, combines exceptional versatility and portability with the ability to view intubations on existing displays. This keeps critical information in one place and eliminates the need to manage an additional monitor and battery. The C-MAC S USB Imager is the only video laryngoscopy system designed to work with RDTs Tempus Pro Vital Signs Monitor, enabling visuals to be displayed as soon as the imager is engaged — providing true plug-and-play performance.
“We are pleased to have been selected once again by EMS World to be a recipient of this award for product innovation,” said Michael Lyman, Director, Sales & Marketing, Airway Management, Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine, KARL STORZ. “The C-MAC product platform has emerged as a solution of choice for airway management, and the C-MAC S USB Imager is the next logical advance within this product family. The extended capabilities it offers for viewing intubation procedures and the potential it creates for enhanced training make the C-MAC S USB Imager a truly significant innovation.”
The award-winning system combines the C-MAC S Imager with the C-MAC S Video Laryngoscope for single use, which can virtually eliminate the need for special transport and reprocessing procedures. The C-MAC S Video Laryngoscope for single use provides a blade and handle in one continuous unit. The handle is ergonomically designed and is available with either an original Macintosh blade shape or D-BLADE style with short handle that offers advantages when used for difficult airways.
This year’s winning products were selected from a field of more than 90 competitive entries. Four independent judges reviewed all of the entries, narrowing the initial field to the top 30 finalists. Representatives for each of the finalists were interviewed during the EMS World EXPO 2014 in Nashville, TN, to determine the top 20 award recipients.
EMS World magazine is the leading monthly publication for the emergency medical services market. In making their award selections, the publication seeks out products that help EMS professionals deliver outstanding patient care.
