INDIANAPOLIS--()--The Indiana Health Information Exchange today announced that its Board of Directors named John P. Kansky as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. He has served the role in an interim capacity since June 2014. Kansky, who has been with IHIE since 2007, will lead IHIE’s unique coalition of over 100 hospitals, which supports the care of over six million patients with over three billion pieces of clinical data.

“John has been instrumental in growing both IHIE’s customer base and services,” said Bryan A. Mills, IHIE Board Chairman and President and CEO of Community Health Network. “He also led IHIE’s planning and strategy, which has positioned IHIE to deliver new value to Indiana’s healthcare stakeholders. Now more than ever, IHIE has become an invaluable strategic partner in the effort to modernize and streamline healthcare in Indiana. We are confident in John’s ability to lead the organization in its next phase of growth and beyond.”

IHIE recently launched a redesigned and enhanced version of its premier application, CareWeb, which provides a secure and robust view of the care patients receive regardless of location and hospital system. This secure, one-of-a-kind service enables interoperability among healthcare providers and payors to improve patient care and reduce costs. IHIE also provides population health management services to help healthcare systems support and manage patient care for better outcomes.

“By doing good for the patients, we will do well for the healthcare community in Indiana,” said Kansky. “I’m looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead, and know that IHIE will be responsive to its customers and help shape the future of a more sophisticated and streamlined healthcare system in Indiana.”

Kansky currently serves on the board of directors for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). He has provided professional expertise to industry committees and organizations including IHE, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and the eHealthExchange.

Kansky heads IHIE’s leadership team, which includes Keith Kelley, Vice President of Service Delivery and Eric Thieme, Vice President of Administration and General Counsel.
