NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tekserve, a leading provider of technology solutions for creative professionals, is pleased to announce the promotion of industry and Tekserve veteran Teresa Rivera to Vice President of Retail Sales & Service. With an impressive background in the information technology industry, Rivera plans to continue to develop and grow Tekserve’s Retail, Service and Small-to-Medium Business (SMB) components in her new role.
“Teresa has been a leader in both the professional and consumer information technology industry for several years,” says Jerry Gepner, CEO, Tekserve Corporation. “In the past, Teresa has been responsible for crafting Tekserve’s retail strategies, expanding its Apple sales footprint in the NYC market and, ultimately, further extending the iconic Tekserve brand.”
Rivera first joined the Tekserve team in 1998 after selling her computer retail store, ‘the little computer store,’ to Tekserve to help grow its SMB sales. Her store was the first woman-owned computer sales and service store in NYC and was named “Best of New York,” by New York Magazine in 1997.
In 2001, she joined Apple as a regional manager, helping re-brand the company in big box retailer, CompUSA. She was one of only two women on the leadership team and proved instrumental in the creation of the store-within-a-store model that many large big box retailers continue to implement today. She went on to become general manager of CompUSA in 2003 and ran the company’s Long Island-based B2B division until 2006. She then worked with Canon and server manufacturer Kaleidoscape before returning to Apple in 2009, where she served as business manager for Apple Retail at its New York City flagship SoHo store until 2012.
One to constantly stay on the forefront of the latest technological trends, Rivera left Apple in 2012 to found Shop This Magazine, Inc., an e-commerce app aimed at avid magazine readers and shoppers. This went on to become the first woman-owned tech company chosen for the Long Island Tech COMETS’ Incubator program and was prominently featured in Long Island Business News in October 2013.
Since returning to Tekserve in the spring of 2014, Rivera has continued to implement innovative sales strategies, with Tekserve’s SMB business showing dramatic growth. “I’ve been immersed within the world of information technology for close to two decades and have been fortunate enough to gain experience working with a variety of top-notch technology teams, including Tekserve,” Rivera says. “I look forward to my future at Tekserve and working closely with the company team members, as I embrace my new role as Vice President of Retail Sales & Service.”
