Deadline Approaches for NAREE Journalism Contest
Enter Online or by Mail by March 1

Commercial and Residential Real Estate Reporters, Columnists, Writers, Editors and Producers Can Enter on www.naree.org

BOCA RATON, Fla.--()--Journalists can now enter the National Association of Real Estate Editors' (NAREE) 65th Annual Journalism Competition via an online portal. Submit entries online or by mail by March 1, 2015.

Nearly all contest categories are now open to work published in digital formats. “This is the first time NAREE has opened all five 'Best Newspaper Story’ categories to work published in a digital edition. NAREE started accepting magazine stories published in ink or on a digital platform last year," said Executive Director, Mary Doyle-Kimball.

Categories for individual journalists include: Best Commercial Real Estate Story, Best Residential Real Estate Story, Best Home and Design Story and Best Mortgage or Financial Real Estate Story. Categories open to individuals and teams of journalists with multiple bylines include: Best Breaking News Story, Best Series and Best Investigative Report.

Journalists can also enter categories for Best Web site, Best Magazine-–digital or print-–and Best Section-–digital or print. The NAREE contest recognizes the work of broadcast journalists, young journalists and those working at small daily papers and weekly newspapers.

NAREE's prestigious journalism competition is aimed at journalists covering all types of real estate from real estate investment, commercial real estate—including office markets, retail, hospitality and multifamily sectors—and residential real estate—from affordable to luxury, celebrity and second homes, plus home building, green architecture, resilient urban development, remodeling trends and finance.

"Independent news outlets publishing daily and weekly newspapers as well as shelter, investment, and commercial real estate trade magazines and newsletters will find categories to enter, as will radio and television stations, and wire services,” Doyle-Kimball said.

More than 80 awards-–Gold, Silver and Bronze-–will recognize excellence in digital, print and broadcast journalism. NAREE presents a Platinum Award for Best Overall Individual Entry. View last year's winners on www.naree.org under “Association Headlines.”

The faculty of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University will judge entries on clarity of writing, objectivity, originality, depth of reporting, and/or graphic design/production.

Top economists, market analysts, home builders, developers, architects and experts from all real estate market sectors will discuss midyear trends and take reporter questions. Peer-to-peer professional development for veteran and new-to-the beat real estate journalists will be offered daily. NAREE’s Real Estate Journalism Awards Presentation will be Friday, June 26 at Miami’s Intercontinental Hotel.
