GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CareChex, a division of Comparion Medical Analytics, released a new study which identifies the nation’s highest quality health systems for overall hospital care. The study analyzed data from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality using the company’s patent-pending quality rating methodology which evaluates hospital performance across various clinical processes, outcomes of care, and patient satisfaction measures.
The study summarized findings for the following three (3) categories:
- Medical Excellence which measures a health system’s “composite” performance across six (6) areas of quality--process of care, mortality, complications, inpatient quality, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.
- Patient Safety which evaluates a health system’s performance on 12 indicators which represent avoidable patient safety events such as postoperative hip fracture, postoperative hemorrhage, and postoperative respiratory failure.
- Patient Satisfaction which assesses a health system’s performance across a variety of consumer experiences relating to physician care, nursing care, and hospital environment.
The top 10 health systems for each category are identified in rank order below.
