NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Joel Acevedo, an associate in the Firm’s New York office, has been named a board member of the Dominican Bar Association (DBA).
Mr. Acevedo’s practice focuses on commercial lending, capital markets, mergers & acquisitions transactions and general corporate law. On a pro-bono basis, he co-drafted amicus curiae briefs on behalf of the Governments of Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and the Supreme Court of the United States supporting the lawsuits filed by the U.S. Department of Justice and a group of civil rights organizations challenging the constitutionality of Arizona’s Senate Bill 1070 (SB 1070).
The Dominican Bar Association is committed to furthering the legal interests of all Latinos and Dominicans in all facets of the community.
