Hampton Health, Ltd. Opens New On-Site Medical Practice at AlmaVia of San Rafael

Clinical offerings expand to provide senior assisted living community quality care in Marin County

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--()--Expanding its medical outreach to regional communities, Hampton Health, Ltd. has opened a new on-site medical practice at AlmaVia of San Rafael, a retirement community managed by Elder Care Alliance. The practice, which officially opened last year on Dec. 3 at 515 Northgate Dr., Suite 101 in San Rafael, offers the finest in geriatric care and oversight to its assisted living residents in addition to serving the local residents of Marin County.

The new full-service on-site medical practice provides ongoing physician office visits, urgent care and chronic disease management with a focus on medical complications common in older adults while promoting an enhanced ability for residents to live on-site and avoid transfers to acute hospitals or nursing homes.

“We are committed to strengthening a culture in the medical industry that delivers high-quality health solutions to the residents of assisted living communities and providing the support needed to not only the patient but to their families.” said Dr. John H. Fullerton, Hampton Health Founder and President. “Expanding our medical practice to AlmaVia of San Rafael is a significant move for Hampton Health as we broaden our availability and services to patients and the communities we are passionate about serving.”

Dr. Fullerton, a Board Certified Geriatrician who was recently appointed Certified Medical Director to AlmaVia of San Rafael, will manage the on-site practice and its team of physicians, physician assistants, phlebotomists, diabetic educators, wound care specialists and Harvard-trained lifestyle/health medicine coaches. The AlmaVia medical office location has also been deemed a geriatric training site where medical residents from St. Mary’s Medical Center and UCSF and physician assistant/nurse practitioner students from multiple university programs will follow and train under Dr. Fullerton’s direct supervision during their geriatric rotation.

After witnessing the heartbreaking toll Alzheimer's disease took on his own family and their struggle to provide adequate home care for his grandfather in the 1980s, Dr. Fullerton became impassioned with the desire and dedication to provide the care, assistance and resources needed—but at that time then lacking—to the parents and children of his own future generation and baby boomers in particular. Hampton Health, and hence AlmaVia of San Rafael, are living testaments to Dr. Fullerton’s vision and his family’s legacy.

Dr. Fullerton is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Medical Toxicology, Hospice & Palliative Medicine, as well as certified in Medical Directorships and nationally certified to provide Home Care services (when indicated). With offices in San Francisco, Corte Madera and San Rafael, the Hampton Health philosophy focuses on a patient-centered approach toward primary care. Each team member is committed to spending as much time as needed with patients to address each of their medical needs and applying an individualized approach to create an environment of personalized care.

All Hampton Health locations and facilities are recognized as geriatric training sites through affiliation agreements with hospital resident programs such as St. Mary’s Medical Center and UCSF, as well as through physician assistant certification programs through Samuel Merritt and St. Francis (PA) Universities.
