Prelert Expands Executive Team with Key Security Veterans in Response to Increased Demand for Advanced Analytics in the Fight against Cybercrime

VP of Security Products and Senior Director of Cyber Security will Guide the Application of Prelert’s Machine Learning Anomaly Detection to Meet Today’s Enterprise Security Challenges

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--Prelert, the leading provider of machine learning anomaly detection, today announced that it has added two executives to its team in response to the strong demand for its advanced analytics products in the IT security market. Mike Paquette, vice president of security products, and Oleg Kolesnikov, senior director of cyber security and head of security analytics, will reinforce Prelert’s leadership in providing machine learning anomaly detection solutions that can identify advanced threats and data breaches before they result in large data losses.

“The anticipation that 2015 will see the continuation of high profile security breaches has increased demand for our anomaly detection solution,” said Mark Jaffe, Prelert’s CEO. “The market is becoming increasingly aware of the need for advanced analytics in the fight against cybercrime. The addition of Mike and Oleg strengthens our ability to meet and deliver against that opportunity in the coming year.”

Paquette has more than 30 years of technology product development experience, including executive roles with several startups in the areas of consumer apps, mobile app ecosystems, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM). Previously, he spent more than a decade in executive roles developing and bringing to market network intrusion prevention and DDoS defense solutions at Top Layer Security (acquired by Corero in 2011). He is co-author of a patent on DDoS defense.

“I’m excited to be joining a team that understands that it’s not a matter of if, but when hackers will get into your network,” said Paquette. “With Prelert’s advanced security analytics, companies can fill the gaps in their security coverage, detecting hackers and cybercriminals in their systems early-on and mitigating potential losses.”

Kolesnikov has more than a decade of experience in senior technical and executive roles. Most recently, he served as senior director at a security analytics company, where he developed a product to detect Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) using behavioral analytics, big data analysis, and machine learning technology. Previously, he had served in director-level roles for more than eight years, building and leading R&D teams. He is co-author of two patents on network access and a book about network security.

“Security teams need a way to identify activity of cybercriminals in their networks early-on to minimize the damage, which can be a challenge given the large amount of data, events and alerts that need to be analyzed and correlated in real-time to detect advanced attacks,” added Kolesnikov. “Prelert’s machine learning-based anomaly detection technology can add tremendous value by uncovering the behavioral fingerprints that cybercriminals leave behind.”

Paquette will serve as Prelert’s security strategist, leading product management and product marketing for Prelert’s security products. Kolesnikov will work closely with the engineering team to drive the continual advancement of Prelert’s technology and products to detect evolving security threats.
