TA Associates Announces Global Staff Promotions

BOSTON--()--TA Associates, a leading global growth private equity firm, today announced promotions of 13 investment staff members in TA’s Boston, London, Menlo Park and Mumbai offices, effective January 1, 2015.

Ashutosh Agrawal was promoted to Managing Director from Director. He is based in TA’s Menlo Park office, focusing on investments in technology and technology-based services companies. Mr. Agrawal led TA’s investments in Bomgar and Prometheus Group, and co-sponsored the firm’s investments in Idera and Viewpoint. He serves on the Board of Directors of Bomgar, Idera and Prometheus Group, and formerly served on the Board of Viewpoint. Mr. Agrawal received a BS, summa cum laude, in Computer Science and an MEng in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA as a Baker Scholar with High Distinction from the Harvard Business School.

M. Roy Burns was promoted to Managing Director from Director. He is based in TA’s Boston office, focusing on investments in payment technology, investment management and other high growth financial and business services companies. Mr. Burns led TA’s investments in BluePay Processing, Dealer Tire and Stadion Money Management, and was actively involved in the firm’s investments in First Eagle Investment Management and K2 Advisors. He serves on the Board of Directors of BluePay Processing and Stadion Money Management, and is a Board observer at First Eagle Investment Management. Mr. Burns formerly served on the Boards of Dealer Tire and K2 Advisors. He received a BS in Business Administration, with Special Attainments, from Washington and Lee University and an MBA as an Arjay Miller Scholar from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Mark H. Carter was promoted to Managing Director from Director. He is based in TA’s Boston office, focusing on investments in healthcare companies. Mr. Carter led TA’s investments in MedSolutions, MPI Research, Senior Whole Health and SoftWriters, and co-sponsored the firm’s investment in Quotient Bioresearch. He serves on the Board of Directors of MedSolutions, Quotient Bioresearch, Senior Whole Health and SoftWriters. Mr. Carter received a BEng, magna cum laude, in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Jason P. Werlin was promoted to Managing Director from Director. He is based in TA’s Menlo Park office, focusing on investments in technology and technology-based services companies. Mr. Werlin led TA’s investments in Aicent, Aurora Networks, CyOptics and DigiCert, and co-sponsored the firm’s investments in Accruent and DiscoverOrg. He serves on the Board of Directors of Accruent, DigiCert and DiscoverOrg, and formerly served on the Boards of Aicent, Aurora Networks, CyOptics and Logistics Health. Mr. Werlin received a BA, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in International Studies from Colby College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Birker B. Bahnsen was promoted to Director from Principal. He is based in the London office of TA Associates (UK), LLP, focusing on investments in European healthcare and cross-sector Scandinavian companies. Mr. Bahnsen led TA’s investments in Amann Girrbach, Internationella Engelska Skolan and MIS Implants Technologies, and serves on the Board of Directors of these three companies. He also was actively involved in the firm’s investment in Cath Kidston. Mr. Bahnsen received a BA and MEng in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Behavioral and Cognitive Science from the University of Oxford.

William D. Christ was promoted to Director from Principal. He is based in TA’s Boston office, focusing on investments in consumer services and products, retail, and restaurant companies. Mr. Christ led TA’s investments in Dymatize Enterprises and SkinnyPop Popcorn, and is actively involved in TA’s investments in Towne Park and Vatterott Educational Centers. He serves on the Board of Directors of SkinnyPop Popcorn and formerly served on the Boards of Dymatize Enterprises, Microban International, Towne Park and Vatterott Educational Centers. Mr. Christ received a BS, summa cum laude, with Special Attainments, Phi Beta Kappa, in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University and an MBA as an Edward Tuck Scholar with High Distinction from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

James R. Hart was promoted to Director from Principal. He is based in TA’s Menlo Park office, focusing on investments in consumer products, retail and healthcare companies. Mr. Hart led TA’s investment in Dutch, co-sponsored the firm’s investments in 5.11 and Evanston Capital Management, and is actively involved in TA’s investments in Millennium Health and SkinnyPop Popcorn. He serves on the Board of Directors of 5.11, Dutch and SkinnyPop Popcorn. Mr. Hart received a BA, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in Political Science and Asian Studies from Amherst College and an MBA as an Arjay Miller Scholar from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

J. Morgan Seigler was promoted to Director from Principal. He is based in the London office of TA Associates (UK), LLP, focusing on investments in technology companies across Europe. Mr. Seigler led TA’s investments in CMOSIS and Flashtalking, co-sponsored the firm’s investments in AVG Technologies, Bigpoint and eCircle, and was actively involved in TA’s investments in ION Trading and SmartStream Technologies. He serves on the Board of Directors of Bigpoint, CMOSIS and Flashtalking, and was formerly a Board Member or a Board observer of AVG Technologies, eCircle and M and M Direct. Mr. Seigler received a BA in Economics from Yale University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Ethan K. Liebermann was promoted to Senior Vice President from Vice President. He is based in TA’s Boston office, focusing on investments in healthcare, consumer, retail and other services companies. Mr. Liebermann is actively involved in the firm’s investment in SoftWriters and serves on its Board of Directors. He received a BA in Economics and Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Emily C. McGinty was promoted to Senior Vice President from Vice President. She is based in TA’s Menlo Park office, focusing on investments in consumer, retail, healthcare and education companies. Ms. McGinty received a BA, summa cum laude, in Economics from Boston College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Jason S. Mironov was promoted to Senior Vice President from Vice President. He is based in TA’s Menlo Park office, focusing on investments in business, financial, technology-enabled and other services companies. Mr. Mironov was actively involved in the firm’s investment in Dutch, and serves on the Board of Directors of DiscoverOrg. Mr. Mironov received a BBA, with Distinction, from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Lovisa Lander was promoted to Vice President from Senior Associate. She is based in the London office of TA Associates (UK), LLP, focusing on investments in companies in the UK and Scandinavia, and in the consumer sector across Europe. Ms. Lander is a Board Observer of Cath Kidston and Internationella Engelska Skolan. She received an MSc in Technology Management and Economics from Chalmers University of Technology.

Aditya Sharma was promoted to Vice President from Senior Associate. He is based in the Mumbai office of TA Associates Advisory Pvt. Ltd., focusing on investments in companies in India and other emerging markets. Mr. Sharma received a BSc, with First Class Honors, in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business.
