PMC Associates Teams with Oceus Networks and Fujitsu Network Communications to Provide First-Ever Public Safety Grade Mobile 4G LTE Network for the State of New Jersey

JerseyNet first responder broadband network to feature deployable nodes for rapid response

HAZLET, N.J.--()--PMC Associates, a New Jersey based company specializing in mission-critical radio solutions for first responders, announced today that it has teamed with Oceus Networks and Fujitsu Network Communications to build JerseyNet, a dedicated first responder network for the state of New Jersey. JerseyNet will provide public safety users with priority access to the network and a hardened system to ensure resiliency during natural disasters, incidents and man-made threats. PMC Associates is providing integration and support services, Oceus Networks will supply the LTE core – the company’s own Xiphos™ Responder – and the radio access network (RAN), while Fujitsu Network Communications will design, equip, and manage the wireless and wireline backhaul portions of the network.

The JerseyNet project represents the nation’s first public safety-grade 4G LTE broadband network with deployable network nodes to provide first responders a secure, resilient, and sustainable network that can deliver remote, mobile, mission-critical capabilities. Deployable network elements can be fielded on towable trailers, SUVs, vans and other platforms to be quickly deployed where and when coverage is needed. The end-to-end network infrastructure will facilitate secure and reliable communications in remote locations, emergency response situations and large scale public gatherings. More importantly, the non-proprietary, standards-based approach to the network design will help improve inter-communications between public safety personnel from different jurisdictions or disciplines.

“PMC is pleased to be working with the JerseyNet team on such a ground breaking initiative,” stated Bryan Casciano, PMC’s Vice President of Sales. “New Jersey is the first state in the country to implement deployable networks utilizing Cells on Wheels (COWs) and Systems on Wheels (SOWs). The networks will be capable of delivering data to boost existing communications or provide communications where existing nodes have been compromised, in some of the most congested areas in the U.S. We are confident that the combined expertise of our team, along with Oceus Networks and Fujitsu Network Communications, will help JerseyNet achieve their vision.”
