White House CIO Returns to Small Business, e-Management

SILVER SPRING, Md.--()--e-Management announces former White House Chief Information Officer (CIO) Karen Britton has joined the company’s leadership team as senior vice president (SVP) & chief operating officer (COO). Ms. Britton is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience as a strategic consultant, delivering a diverse range of IT solutions to public and private sector clients. Ms. Britton’s arrival follows the company’s recent spin-off of its newly created commercial unit, CyberRx, LLC, launched in the 4th Quarter of 2014 to provide cybersecurity readiness and preparedness solutions for small and medium-sized businesses looking to strengthen their cybersecurity posture.

In her new role at e-Management, Ms. Britton assumes a broad range of responsibilities including the company’s expansion into the Department of Defense (DoD), as well as federal civilian and intelligence agencies. In addition, Ms. Britton is responsible for developing strategic commercial corporate relationships. “Karen is a welcome addition to our senior leadership team,” says Mr. Bamgbose, e-Management President & CFO. “She has a unique ability to assess and understand the strengths of individuals and inspire them to work as a team, improving productivity, employee morale, and customer satisfaction.”

Ms. Britton most recently served as the CIO of the Executive Office of the President (EOP) and special assistant to President Barack Obama. Her leadership led to innovations that enabled and enhanced business processes to all EOP components including the White House, the Office of the Vice President, and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in support of more than 3,000 users.

During her tenure as CIO, Ms. Britton spearheaded cloud computing strategy, agile software development methodologies, and open-source approaches to deliver the President’s message to the American people in a variety of new and innovative ways including petitions, social media, and enhanced citizen relationship management (CRM) systems. Ms. Britton directly supported the President’s vision of cybersecurity protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the unclassified information systems. Prior to her CIO role, she served as the Deputy CIO for the EOP. Ms. Britton is a graduate of Excellence in Government Fellows Program. She is also a recipient of the Partnership for Public Service Leadership in Action; the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award; and the National Women of Color in Technology Award.
