LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CES 2015, LVCC Central Hall Booth #11028 – Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the industry’s first TransferJet™ adapter for iOS devices1, including the iPhone and iPad that is compliant with TransferJet close proximity wireless transfer technology. In addition, the company also announced its 2nd generation USB adapter for Windows and MicroUSB adapter for Android™2.
TransferJet is a close proximity wireless transfer technology standard promoted by the TransferJet Consortium. A new easy way to wirelessly share files between PCs, tablets, smartphones and other compatible mobile devices, TransferJet enables photos, videos, music, documents and more to be transmitted at up to a 560Mbps rate3 quickly and with minimized potential for data leakage.
Sending files between devices is easy - just connect a TransferJet adapter to each compatible device, open the TransferJet PC and mobile app, select the files and touch the two adapters together. TransferJet connects and starts sending data in an instant. With its ultra-high transfer speed, a one-hour TV program4 may be transferred from a PC to a tablet in as little as a few seconds.
“As we increasingly are taking higher quality photos, videos and more, people need an easy way to share these very large files with their friends and family, or simply save them to their PC,” said Maciek Brzeski, Vice President, Branded Storage, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “Until now, there hasn’t been a simple, fast and affordable way to instantly transfer files between devices – TransferJet makes it easy.”
Efficient Transfer with Minimized Risk
An extremely short transmission distance minimizes the potential for leakage of data without the need for difficult security measures or setup procedures. Users can even register their devices to enable TranferJet to recognize and connect to specific devices only, further minimizing the risk of unintended or unauthorized access.
As TransferJet radiates very low-power radio waves, it causes virtually no interference to other wireless systems and – unlike Wi-Fi® – there is no impact on performance even if multiple users simultaneously use them nearby.
Known as the “Inventor of Flash Memory,” Toshiba has been providing storage solutions worldwide since 1967 and has more than 47 years of experience developing storage offerings that complement our comprehensive ecosystem of devices. Leveraging an annual $3.1 billion investment in research and development, Toshiba continues to push the boundaries of storage technology to meet customers' needs.
Pricing and Availability
The TransferJet adapters for compatible iOS, Windows and Android devices will be available for purchase in March 2015 at participating retailers and on toshiba.com/us for $79.99 MSRP5.
