The Jewish Free Loan Association Names David R. Levy as Its New Executive Director/CEO

LOS ANGELES--()--The Jewish Free Loan Association (JFLA) has announced David R. Levy has been named JFLA’s new Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer. Levy succeeds Mark Meltzer, who is retiring in December 2014 after serving as Executive Director/CEO of the agency for 35 years.

David Levy joins JFLA from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was responsible for leading the team working with the Board of Governors and volunteer-based fundraising groups. David established himself as a dynamic leader in the nonprofit sector, with professional experiences at Hillel, Jewish Federations, Jewish centers, camps, synagogues, healthcare, leadership development and the arts. He also teaches and helps train the next generation of professional leaders in the community.

Founded in 1904, the Jewish Free Loan Association is a nonprofit agency offering assistance to people of all faiths struggling with financial challenges. For more than 110 years, JFLA has provided financial relief to the most vulnerable members of the local Los Angeles-area community – the agency’s mission is to provide residents of the greater L.A. area with interest-free loans to assist a variety of needs, including emergencies, education, in vitro fertilization and adoption, healthcare, Israel experience programs, microenterprise/small businesses, loans for veterans, children with special needs, Jewish camping, lifecycle events, and more.

“It is with great pride that we announce that David Levy is the new Executive Director/CEO of the Jewish Free Loan Association. David has shown a true commitment to Jewish communal service, and he is a well-respected leader in the community,” said Aaron Bloom, President of JFLA’s Board of Directors. “We know that David will do a fantastic job, and we are confident that JFLA will continue to grow and thrive under his leadership,” Bloom added.

Former JFLA Executive Director/CEO Mark Meltzer echoed Bloom’s statements, “JFLA is a service-based organization, and David is someone who has dedicated his life to serving our community members who need it most."

“The Jewish Free Loan Association plays a unique role in our community and I am proud to lead an organization that improves the quality of life for thousands of people every year,” said Levy. “I am honored to be entrusted with this incredible legacy.”
