Suniva Named Employer of the Year by Michigan EIBC

Business Council recognizes job creation efforts

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich.--()--Suniva, Inc., an Atlanta- and Saginaw- based manufacturer of high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cells and modules, has been named Employer of the Year by the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council.

The Council recognized Suniva for its recent manufacturing expansion in Saginaw Township, and the company’s hiring and growth plan in the region. In August, Suniva began construction of a new solar module manufacturing plant that will bring an additional 350 jobs, when the facility is fully operational.

Michigan EIBC President Dan Scripps presented the award at its annual gala on November 12. “Suniva is creating economic opportunities in Michigan and growing an industry that represents the future of our state,” said Scripps. “It’s a tribute to the strength of our workforce, that the nation’s leading solar manufacturer has chosen Michigan to continue its growth. We’re honored to recognize them on behalf of the industry for their leadership.”

Accepting on behalf of Suniva was Matt Card, vice president of global sales and marketing. “We are honored to be a part of the Michigan business community, with its rich manufacturing history,” said Card. “It’s fitting that at in a time with so many challenges from Asian competitors, that we can stand up and show that an American workforce still produces higher quality products, at a fair price, than any foreign source is capable of.
