The Conor Lynch Foundation to Honor Road Traffic Victims on World Day of Remembrance

LOS ANGELES--()--The Conor Lynch Foundation (“CLF”) will commemorate the World Day of Remembrance on Sunday, November 16th at noon by inviting members of the press and the public to join a candle-lighting to be held at the memorial bench at “Conor’s Corner” (the corner of Woodman and Addison in Sherman Oaks). The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDR) is observed on the third Sunday of November each year by an increasing number of countries on every continent around the world. This day is dedicated to honoring the many millions killed or injured in road crashes each year, remembering their families and communities, and paying tribute to the dedicated emergency crews, police and medical professionals who daily deal with the traumatic aftermath of road death and injury. Approximately 40 private family photos of victims will be displayed at CLF’s candle-lighting on Sunday, and family members will be present for interviews with the press.

“Just in this past couple of weeks we have seen at least 8 or more hit and run fatalities in Southern California alone: three 13 year-olds who were out trick-or-treating, a mother of eight riding her bike, and a young boy walking to school – each were hit and left to die alone,” said Jeri Dye Lynch, Founder and President of the Conor Lynch Foundation. “It’s heartbreaking, horrific and immoral to see this epidemic unfold, especially when most crashes are preventable. Road Safety should be our number one priority as a society, but sadly, it is not.” The Conor Lynch Foundation recently held their 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk In Honor of Conor which is held in conjunction with National Teen Safe Driving Week. The Run/Walk and safety expo raises awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and promotes the safety on our streets for pedestrians, runners, cyclists and young drivers.
