NEW YORK--()--Norton Rose Fulbright today announced that David Navetta and Boris Segalis, nationally-recognized leaders in cybersecurity, privacy and data protection law, have joined as partners.

Both partners come to Norton Rose Fulbright from InfoLawGroup LLP, where Navetta was a founding partner of the law firm and Segalis led its New York office. Together they helped the firm become ranked by Chambers USA as one of the nation’s leading law firms for Privacy & Data Security in 2013 and 2014. Both Segalis and Navetta are certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Segalis will join Norton Rose Fulbright’s New York office, while Navetta will practice out of its Denver office.

Navetta has significant experience handling issues in technology, privacy, information security, e-commerce and intellectual property law. His work ranges from compliance and transactional matters to breach notification, regulatory response and litigation. Navetta, who currently serves as “breach coach” or is on the approved panel for numerous cyber insurance carriers and companies, has helped dozens of companies across multiple industries respond to data security breaches.

Segalis advises clients from Fortune 10 companies to startups on emerging technology, information management, cybersecurity, privacy and information security. His practice ranges from strategy counseling to representing companies in state and federal privacy and data security related investigations. Segalis represents companies in a broad range of industries, including technology, pharma, consumer products, utilities and payment processing.

Linda Addison, US Managing Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright, said:

“Cybersecurity, privacy and data breaches are growing concerns throughout corporations globally. With their vast experience, David and Boris will enhance our data protection and privacy practice by offering cybersecurity insight to our clients.”

Navetta and Segalis will co-chair the US group of Norton Rose Fulbright’s global data protection and privacy practice. This group will focus on cutting-edge legal issues that arise from the global economy’s exponentially growing reliance on information and critical infrastructure. The group will address cybersecurity strategy and compliance, consumer and employee privacy and data protection, big data, data and infrastructure breach preparedness and response, regulatory investigations and litigation.

Navetta, former co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Science and Technology Section’s Information Security Committee, said:

“Cybersecurity has become a boardroom issue, and we wanted a broader platform from which to provide our services. Norton Rose Fulbright is a global practice made up of respected lawyers with a reputation for client service, which perfectly matches our needs. I am eager to share my experience in privacy and data security with clients in the United States and worldwide.”

Segalis, an adjunct professor at the New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering, said:

“When it comes to privacy, data protection and cybersecurity, clients are facing a rapidly-evolving legal landscape in the US and globally. The US data protection group will complement an already strong and truly global Norton Rose Fulbright data protection practice, and position the firm to broaden the depth and scope of services we can offer clients.”

Richard Krumholz, US Head of Dispute Resolution and Litigation, Norton Rose Fulbright, commented:

“Cybersecurity issues weigh heavily on the minds of corporate America. Our clients will benefit from David’s and Boris’ deep knowledge of these issues and how to handle the most sophisticated data privacy issues.”
