Kurion Promotes Yohei Iwasaki to Vice President, Japan

Iwasaki Played Instrumental Role in Expanding Company’s Involvement at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant

IRVINE, Calif. & TOKYO--()--Kurion, Inc., an innovator in nuclear and hazardous waste management, today announced the promotion of its Country Director for Japan, Yohei Iwasaki, to vice president. Iwasaki first joined Kurion in June 2012 as country manager.

In his expanded role, Iwasaki will lead the company’s growing regional operations and continues to report to John Raymont, Kurion founder and president.

“Since joining Kurion, Yohei has demonstrated a tireless devotion to delivering successful projects for the Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO,” said Raymont. “He has been instrumental in helping Kurion increasingly assist TEPCO in the complex cleanup of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant site, and exhibits a personal dedication to helping Japan recover from the tsunami and earthquake of 2011. Moreover he has been an active leader in building a strong relationship with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, which recently named Kurion as one of the companies awarded a grant to test its detritiation system.”

Prior to joining Kurion in 2012, Iwasaki served as co-founder, chief executive officer and chief strategy officer at mOasis, an innovative crop science startup specialized in building technology to optimize water resources. He previously practiced law as an attorney in Japan for three years at Nishimura & Asahi and the Uchida & Samejima Law Firm. Iwasaki earned Master of Business Administration and Master of Sciences degrees from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Law degree from University of Tokyo.
