Grant Thornton names Scott Farber West region Audit Services leader

IRVINE, Calif.--()--Grant Thornton LLP named Scott Farber, 55, West region Audit Services leader, based in the firm’s Irvine, Calif., office.

Currently, Farber is the International Business Center (IBC) director for the Asia Pacific IBC and West region, a role in which he will continue to serve. Previously, he served as head of the Southern California Technology practice. He also served as Audit practice leader, as well as partner-in-charge, of the firm’s Irvine office. He has more than 35 years of experience auditing public and private companies, assisting with mergers and acquisitions, financing, international trade and general business guidance.

“Scott brings to this role vast experience and proven leadership skills,” said Kullen Birkeland, office managing partner of Grant Thornton’s Southern California practice. “He will play a key role in leading the growth and driving the strategy of the firm’s Audit Services throughout the West region.”

Farber has worked with a variety of manufacturing, distribution, technology and service companies across many industry sectors, including software developers, digital media, consumer electronics and technology hardware components. He has helped publicly held, private equity-sponsored and family-owned companies. He has extensive experience with IPOs and registration statements, and compliance with internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley.

From 1995 to 1998, Farber was based in Hong Kong as Grant Thornton’s Asia Pacific Technical director and liaison partner. His territory covered 16 countries in the region, including Southeast Asia, India, China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Farber also served as an elected member of Grant Thornton’s Partnership Board from 2005 to 2011.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Farber earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from San Diego State University.
