SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leeo, Inc. today unveiled the Smart Alert™ Nightlight, the first in a family of smart home products that will focus on efficiency, safety, and comfort.
The Leeo Smart Alert™ Nightlight is an easy-to-use device that monitors a home’s existing smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms and alerts residents when they sound. With no monthly fees or complicated installation required, homeowners and renters can secure their homes by simply plugging the device into a power outlet and pairing it with the free Leeo app.
Mandatory smoke and CO alarms alert families to danger when they’re in their homes, but when residents are away, all they do is make noise. For every minute that goes by without emergency response, the danger of a total loss of property or more increases. Less than five percent of homes have smoke and CO alarms integrated with a monitored service. Although effective, these systems are often costly and require professional installation. With the Leeo Smart Alert™ Nightlight, families can add an extra layer of protection to the equipment they already have in a cost-effective way without monthly fees.
The Leeo Smart Alert™ Nightlight listens to the existing safety devices in the home, recognizes when an alarm sounds and sends the owners, wherever they are, a notification on their phone. The Leeo app allows the user to listen to the alarm and gives them the option to dial their local emergency services. If the user does not respond to a push notification or phone calls, the app will then alert contacts chosen by the user – friends, family and neighbors – to notify authorities or emergency services on the user’s behalf.

Designed by Robert Brunner, Leeo’s chief designer and founder of San Francisco-based design studio Ammunition, the simple, elegant device takes the form of a modern nightlight.

Smart Alert™ Nightlight features
The LED-based light can be controlled via a dimmer ring on the device or within the app. Additionally, the app allows users to choose from up to 16 million color options to customize the light to suit their mood or home décor.
In addition to hearing alarms, the device detects room temperature and humidity, allowing users to monitor the climate in their homes. The app can be customized to recognize preset ranges for these readings and trigger alerts when they exceed designated thresholds. The app is available for free in the App Store and can be used on an iPhone 4S or later running iOS 7 or later. The Smart Alert™ Nightlight is now available for purchase on the Leeo site, www.leeo.com, for $99.
