DUBLIN, Calif. & CHICAGO--()--New products in the Essential Line from ZEISS being introduced for U.S. eye care providers include the VISUPHOR® 500 digital phoropter and the VISUSCREEN® 100/ 500 acuity charts for use in subjective refraction; the portable VISUSCOUT® 100 fundus camera for retinal examinations; and the VISUPLAN® 500 non-contact tonometer for intraocular pressure testing. These are added to an already powerful lineup: proven slit lamps with imaging functions and applanation tonometers, as well as products for objective refraction: the VISUREF® 100 autorefractor/keratometer, VISULENS® 500 auto-lensmeter and the 4-in-1 wavefront aberrometer i.Profiler plus.

With the Essential Line, ZEISS delivers a complete pre-test and basic diagnostics solution that assists ophthalmologists and optometrists in achieving optimal results and enhancing their workflow.

"Basic diagnostics is particularly important in the practices of ophthalmologists and optometrists. The very first examination of a new patient lays the foundation for the subsequent success of the therapy. Therefore, we wish to provide doctors with diagnostic solutions that deliver all important examination results reliably and efficiently," says Dr. Ludwin Monz, CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG. He also highlighted the outstanding ease of use and modularity of the systems.

“Eye care providers can start with a single device and then gradually supplement it with additional equipment to create a complete suite", Dr. Monz said.

To guarantee smooth workflows, the devices of the Essential Line can be combined with each other and with already existing practice management systems (such as electronic medical records).
