NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Revolutionary private aviation company Wheels Up proudly announces its relationship with Corporate Angel Network (CAN), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that arranges free transportation for cancer patients and their families traveling to and from life-saving treatment centers by utilizing unoccupied seats on corporate aircraft, extending and enabling access to recognized treatment anywhere in the United States. The CAN program allows patients to travel to clinical trials resulting in potential cures, receive specialized treatment not available locally, and avoid dangers of crowded travel due to immune deficiencies, all while reducing their financial burden.
According to David Baxt, Wheels Up Co-Founder and President, Wheels Up as a company will donate flights to the ongoing program, and Wheels Up members are able to donate flight hours directly to CAN. Members can pay for flights at the time of donation or allocate directly from pre-purchased hours on their membership accounts. In the future, members will also have the option to share unoccupied seats with patients and their caregivers. Wheels Up joins CAN’s extensive network of some 580 of America's top corporations to help to fulfill 6,000 patient requests per year.
“We are excited to work with CAN and know that Wheels Up will make a difference by offering a travel solution for CAN’s cancer patients and their families,” said Baxt. “As a company, we are committed to giving back and are honored to be able to support CAN’s mission. We look forward to working with this inspiring organization for many years to come.”
With the mission of bringing cancer patients closer to their cure, CAN has coordinated more than 45,000 flights since its founding in 1981, arranging up to 225 flights each month for patients in need. The program offers a meaningful benefit to patients while giving companies with corporate aircraft the rewarding opportunity to combine business activities with social responsibility.
